Vagaro is a full salon management system with a marketplace, text reminders, POS and many add-ons, priced per calendar; BeautiDock is a lighter tool built around your own booking website, with deposits and email reminders, priced per online booking and capped at $19 a month. Solo pros who mainly need clients to book and pay a deposit online usually pay less on BeautiDock; teams that want discovery and back-office depth are often better served by Vagaro.

Vagaro's pricing page is geo-targeted, so its prices below come from Vagaro's own US comparison pages and an independent guide updated in October 2026.

Where Vagaro is stronger

  • Marketplace. Clients search Vagaro's marketplace and app for salons, spas and barbers nearby, and Vagaro says it charges US businesses no marketplace fee. BeautiDock won't find you new clients.
  • Text reminders. Vagaro sends free automated text and email reminders. BeautiDock sends email only for now.
  • POS and payments. Vagaro processes cards in the salon (a reported 2.6% + 10¢ per in-person transaction for small merchants). BeautiDock has no POS or card reader.
  • Team pricing. Each extra calendar is $10 a month, and Vagaro's comparison page caps the total at $83.99 for 7 or more staff. A 4-person team pays about $60 on Vagaro versus up to $76 on BeautiDock.
  • Depth. Forms, memberships, packages, classes, payroll, a check-in app and a points-based loyalty program are all available, some as paid add-ons.
  • A longer trial: 30 days.

Where BeautiDock is stronger

  • Website included. Your booking site comes with every account: three designer templates, your colors and photos, a page per service and a team page. On Vagaro, the MySite website builder is a reported $20-a-month add-on.
  • Everything in one price. No add-ons: calendar, client notes and history, deposits, loyalty card, team logins, rebooking reminder emails and Google review request emails are all included.
  • Pay when you get bookings. Your first 30 online bookings are free, then $0.50 each up to $19 per professional per month. Walk-ins and phone bookings you enter yourself are free. A quiet month costs less.
  • Deposits that refund themselves. Set a deposit per service and a cancellation window; cancellations before it are refunded automatically, and the money lands in your own Stripe account.
  • Simple to run. Fewer settings to learn, booking pages in English, French and Spanish.

What it costs: a worked example

Assumptions (labelled): one esthetician, 80 online bookings a month, average service $70, a few new clients a month from a marketplace, wants a booking website. Card processing excluded.

Vagaro BeautiDock
Subscription $30 ($23.99 for the first 6 months, reported) 80 × $0.50 = $40, capped at $19
Fees on new marketplace clients $0, per Vagaro $0 (no marketplace)
Website MySite, reported $20 Included
Monthly total $50 ($43.99 at the intro price) $19 ($15.83 on the annual plan)

If you don't need a separate website and just share your Vagaro booking link, Vagaro drops to $30 and the gap narrows to $11. For a team the result flips: 4 pros cost $60 on Vagaro (plus website) versus up to $76 on BeautiDock, and from 7 pros Vagaro's $83.99 cap is clearly cheaper.

On deposits, BeautiDock costs Stripe's fee plus 0.9% (about 3.8% + 30¢ on a US card). Ask Vagaro for a written quote on online and card-on-file payments to compare with your volume.

Switching from Vagaro

  1. Export your client list from Vagaro, or ask Vagaro support for it, before you cancel. Save a copy of your service menu and prices.
  2. Set up BeautiDock: services, durations, hours, deposits and cancellation window, then import your clients with the client CSV import.
  3. Test it as a client on your phone: book, cancel, rebook.
  4. Share your new link everywhere: Instagram bio, Google Business Profile, text to regulars, and at checkout.
  5. Run both until your remaining Vagaro appointments are done, then close the account.
